Am horrible person. Or perhaps just horrible challenge-responder type person.

First there was the attempt to write Wesley/Lilah that totally turned into Fred/Oz (still unfinished, by the way.)

And now I'm writing this backup fic for a ficathon (not the McKay one) and the request is totally for a certain het pairing involving Daniel and a female person who isn't Sam. And it's totally turned into a certain slash pairing that shall only be known as "Jack/Daniel."

*headdesk*

Also, I have this problem with my OTPs. I know, I don't have OTPs. I have lots of true pairings. But the thing is, they're all true. You know what I mean? If I'm writing a fic with Willow and Giles in it, regardless of what pairings it is, there's going to be feelings there. Willow has a crush on Giles. It's part of my unchangeable canon. Of course, W/T and W/O are also part of my unchangeable canon.

And I can't write Daniel/Sam where Daniel isn't also in love with Jack, and since I can't avoid the evil Canon Het, Sam's usually in love with Jack too.

And I bet if I tried to write Jack/Daniel, I'd have the same problem.

Clearly, I will never, ever be capable of writing genfic, and soon all my fic will turn into space operas more confusing than certain seasons of Angel.

Or possibly threesomes.

With that, GIP, and I think I'm going to sleep for a couple of hours before church. *headdesk*

I'm a bad influence on myself.

But no, wait, first: a list of pairings that will always be present in any fic of any length I write about the characters. Or, in other words, the loves that are part of my own personal canon:

Gateverse:
-Jack/Daniel
-Daniel/Sam
-Sam--->Jack (*weepz, but there it is, in all my Sam!fic*)
-Daniel/Sha're
-Hammond --> Sam
-Hammond --> Jack
-Jack/Maybourne
-Cassie --> Sam
-Jonas --> Daniel
-McKay-->Sam
-McKay/Weir
-Ford--> Sheppard
-Teyla-->Sheppard

Jossverse
-Buffy/Angel
-Xander --> Buffy in S1
-Willow --> Xander forever (I don't care what canon says! She's lying)
-Xander --> Willow at all points after "Homecoming"
-Xander/Cordy
-Willow/Oz
-Willow/Tara
-Xander/Anya
-Willow/Giles
-Giles --> Buffy
-Spike/Dru
-Frell that, the whole OT(Fanged)4, though only in a pastfic sense, mostly.
-Darla --> Angel
-Cordy/Doyle
-Doyle-->Angel
-Wesley-->Angel(us)
-Cordy/Angel
-Wes/Fred
-Wes/Lilah
-Fred/Willow/Wesley and all the twosomes implied

And those are just my main fandoms. I've probably got plenty more for my random little fanda. Do you see my problem? How can I possibly ever write all the crack I want to if every crack pairing gets added to the great big list of True Love That Cannot Be Denied?

-Giles --> Buffy

Yay for this!

I've spent part of this evening debating whether Giles' feelings for Buffy are paternal or romantic with my housemate. My official position is that I can see both interpretations. This is mostly because the housemate is so caught up in the paternal-ness that I think the idea of the feelings being romantic squicks him seriously...

... but, um, we both still like the Red Sox, so yay!

It does make it rather a challenge to write fic for you, though, since our pairings overlap so very rarely (and I can't write genfic either).

I am rather an evil hetshipper, aren't I!? Honestly, when I was in college, I think thinking about people who were involved in heterosexual relationships was a nice change of pace ;) (I lived in a rather carelessly slapped-together fanfic, omfg. "I'm horny." "No kidding." "We get each other off on the table now?" "But I have girlfriend?" "I am a guy, so it doesn't really count." "Plus, there's the 'party clause'.")

I guess I just find it hotter! *is evil* (And easier to write with the characters presented, for the most part... minus Enterprise, naturally, where people kinda have to work at the het)

I only tend to really fight the tide of canon occasionally, but I'll really go wherever my brain goes "OMG! Messed up!" or "OMG! Squeee!", depending ;) I have a good ability to just ignore stuff on the TV that doesn't jive with my squeee, but the pairings I tend to land on are mostly het. Hrm.

I guess I have a hard time with m/m slash because I am too girlie to really feel a part of it. The last thing I want to do is girlie up most of these guys, especially in present-day-era shows (it's so much less of a big deal in shows set in the future, that I think it requires me to see a character's sexual orientation a certain way a lot less).

I don't think of myself as really being horribly mainstream in the way I think, mostly because of the way I am and think in life. But in fiction... *sigh* Damn, I really am a sucker for an alpha male in a het relationship, sometimes, and I dig on m/f interactions from both sides.

And ooo! I get to feel somehow subversive now by association...

I hear ya. I can totally be sold on any pairing provided the fic selling the pairing is written well enough (this likely comes from the fact that my primary fandom is Whedonverse where everyone has sexual tension with everyone) so the UST becomes canon desire in my head and then it's a quick step to "Well why wouldn't they act on it?"

This comment brought to you by (1) a discussion with a friend about in a lot of Trek fic you want certain characters together but because said characters are so honor-driven or ships' captains or whatever it they really wouldn't get into a sexual relationship with said other person (2) the fact that i'm writing Giles/Cordelia in which Buffy is dating Riley but still has a crush on Giles and i'm debating about how totally out of character a Giles/Cordelia/Buffy threesome would be.
From: [identity profile] hermionesviolin.livejournal.com
I'm thinking now that it just doesn't work, but i'm considering a "Special Edition: Director's Cut" wherein Cordelia dresses up like Giles and fucks Buffy because she's always had a little bit of a crush on her and Buffy has realized that she wants Giles but Cordelia doesn't wanna share and we don't think Giles would be into the threesome thing so this way the two women can get it out of their system. Yeah, Chasing Amy and a friend's recent "Buffy likes it when Faith fucks her but wants her to be a guy" fic get the blame for that particular brain quirk.

One of my many WIPs is totally Wes/Fred and Wes/Angel which then includes Fred/Angel and there is much powerplay [Sidenote: it's amusing watching the trends in my fic as i seem to have shifting kinks-of-the-moment, with moment of course usually lasting some months; current kink is possibly awkward-tender-beginner-sex, which helps explain why that particular fic is currently on the back burner] and possibly a subplot with Gunn getting some play because i do really like him, i just tend not to be interested in writing him, but the man deserves some happiness.

And it's not like you actually care about this anyhow, so i should go back to my Shakespeare paper, which is actually coming along quite well -- except for the obvious part about how i'm not actually writing it right now ;)

Buffy/Giles/Cordelia? There's always Jay Kayelle's Guilt. It's pretty different from your scenario, however, so I would be interested to see what you do with it.

And Ari? There's nothing wrong in being a multi-shipper just so long as you include Giles in there somewhere

I'm confused. It's possible to have fic without Giles?

Sure it is! There's also VR.5 fics with Oliver, and Manchild fics with James, and Spooks/MI-5 fics with Peter Salter and Monarch of the Glen fics with the new guy and....

[poke]See, this is why you should write more Scorpy/Kant![/poke]

But considering that Jack/Kinsey hasn't made it there yet, I think you've still got some chance of writing crack.

And there's always Trance/Thor.

Hey, hi!
You don't know me, but I've noticed you in various comms. Just wanted to say that I adore you for writing Hammond/Sam and your Willow/Giles pieces and that I've friended you. Hope that's ok. :)

And thank you :)

*hearts in my eyes!*

Aww. I couldn't remember at all how we came to be friended when I was thinking about it. I love that it was Sam/Hammond that tipped me over. ;)
