In Illyria's time, mortals' dreams were blooded sacrifices. Now, people purveying cheese.

He hurriedly closes the door.

4. Color, 3 and 8 (Kaylee and Ann)

Ann teaches Kaylee how to wear rouge, so Kaylee teaches Ann to blush.

The library burned.

She woke up and it was all a dream.

7. Rule, 4 and 8 (Illyria and Ann)

Deep within Ann's closet, in an abandoned science fiction manuscript, full of crossings-out, the God-King reigns.

Okay, that last one probably deserves an explanation: it is my tinhat reading of the text that Richard is a trans man who was born Alma Baker; Abigail was Mary Anne's mother (she's mentioned in original editions of Mary Anne Saves the Day) and Alma (the name we get in Mary Anne and the Mystery in the Attic) was the name Richard's parents gave him.

It's also my usual understanding that trans boys aren't be Potentials (because, um, they're boys), but I'm open to various interpretations that don't erase people's gender identities. So long as they involve ridiculous crossovers.



Also, I remembered two other major fannish accomplishments from my exceptionally long haitus: I read A Song of Ice and Fire (and realized I'd been calling it "Song of Fire and Ice" for something like three years. Whoops.) And I read most Robin Hobb's Realm of the Elderings (Farseer, Liveship Traders, and Tawny Man; I think I'll leave the Rain Wilds until the series is complete). I bet you'll never guess who my favorite character is?!

I almost commented on that entry volunteering that information, since it's basically the only fannish text consumption you've done that has intersected with fannish text consumption I've seen fandom doing.

Oh, Song of Ice & Fire, you are so. . .awesome and problematic and wtf and way too long and awesome.

Brienne for your favorite? I can say many things about Brienne and Jaime and Asha, though in the end considering my 'love for characters who try to do everything right and then just give up and set things on fire but they were thing that probably needed setting on fire anyway,' I am pretty much destined to be Team Daenerys.

I love your ficlets, particularly the cheese reference. Good to see you back and posting!

I don't actually have a Song of Ice and Fire favorite -- possibly Arya if pressed.

I also play for team Daeny. (Though I really hesitate to choose favorites because THEN THEY DIE.)
