Alcott-love naturally leads one to Yuletide, which really makes you think... Google retrieves 2 million sites with the word "yuletide" in them.

The very first hit is Yuletide Treasure.

What can one say? Rarefic is taking over the internets!

Also, it took me till just now to realize that Alcott and Montgomery have the same first two initials. Louisa Mae/Lucy Maud, OTP! There love is so ellem.

Yuletide pwns like a mad pwning thing. I've been spending a surprising amount of time there lately (and I know exactly what I'm doing for New Year's Resolutions, too...)

And are there many excellent Little Men stories? Or are we going to have to write them all?

Have you read the Elaine Showalter essay in the Penguin Classics edition of LW?

i don't think so . . .

I just happened to read this today -- it's interesting; includes a quote from LMA about how she was never in love with a man, but lots of pretty girls, and Showalter says something about how "it's not clear whether she never married because of lesbian tendencies." To which my gut response was, "well, that letter you just quoted might be a HINT." I would like to be able to discuss this more intelligently, but the power of words seems to have left me.

when my brain is working better i'll find the quotes; but the essay is worth a look overall, too. I don't know whether I agree b/c I haven't actually read the book yet. But she basically defends Jo's marriage at the end.

That is one of the coolest things I've heard in ages. It makes me very happy. :-)

Ah! I was reading the entry as "Ari doesn't know about Yuletide" rather than "the Yuletide fic challenge trumps all other sites related to the term in a GoogleSearch." Makes much more sense now.

[livejournal.com profile] rarelitslash is also something to keep in mind (its UserInfo has a wealth of links) though looking at its comm Memories there doesn't seem to be any LMA (or LMM).

I'm cleaning out my books and my mom's keeping Little Women and Little Men, but not Jack and Jill. Any interest? I've never read it, so I can't say anything, but I can offer an amazon link.
