Many of you will be delighted to here that tomorrow, my Sam/Daniel [livejournal.com profile] ship_manifesto essay is due. If anyone wants to rec a favorite fic, post a link and I'll add it to my list, which will be, as always, a bit slapdash, like my fic reading.

From [livejournal.com profile] karabair and [livejournal.com profile] mosca:
Ask me anything about my stories and/or writing process: inspiration, process, what the hell was I thinking, etc. No limit on questions, just ask away.

1) Total number of fandoms I like:

All of them? I love fandom, I love the idea of fandom, I love being a fangirl, and I'm actively crazy about half a dozen shows (SG-1, 'lantis, BtVS, AtS, FF) -- and passively crazy about another half dozen (HP, LotR, Scape, Drom, Trek, Dark Angel) not to mention the fangirling I do of any random movie or book I happen to read, plus things like the Baby-Sitters Club.

And? I seem to have forgotten to mention VMars and House entirely in the above!

2) My first fandom ever:

The Baby-Sitters Club was the first series I was fangirlish about (massive knowledge store, reading all the books multiple times, being able to practically cite chapter and verse, imagining futures for all of them -- yep, I'd say I was pretty fangirly about it!)

The first fanfic I read was Lord of the Rings slash, followed by Sherlock Holmes slash -- and there's another fandom I forgot to mention above! Okay, total number of fandoms I love is somewhere around 20 or 30 source texts, I think.

The first fanfic I wrote was in Stargate SG-1, Jack/Daniel slash.

3) My most recent fandom:

I went a searchin' for Mona Lisa Smile femslash after watching it with [livejournal.com profile] cheese_munkey over graduation, along with Children of Dune, but I'm not actively fangirling either one. The last fandoms I actually added were probably Veronica Mars and House MD, which I watched simultaneously about two or three months ago.

4) Five fandoms that currently mean a lot to me (in order of preference):

1. Veronica Mars tops the list currently because of the Keith-Veronica. It's on my desktop, it's what I'm rewatching, and it's on my mind constantly. Veronica is my hero, and the good daddy/absent mommy is, um, personally meaningful to me.

2. The Jossverse (all three shows -- I'm cheating with this one!) is my current favorite for thinking about and writing in, because of the rich characterization and universe. I'm not a fantasy person by nature, but this 'verse drew me in. Plus, there's Giles. And Fred. And Kaylee. And Tara and Wash and Zoe and Inara and Willow and Xander and Oz and Wesley and Cordelia and Anya and Dawn and Buffy and Illyria and Gunn and Mal and Jayne and Serenity and... But yes, this is my thinking fandom.

3. Stargate Atlantis, because McKay/Weir has been my pairing of the moment since September or so, which is something like a personal record, and it remains the pairing I'm least capable of being rational about because I love them so. So. Much. I'm not putting SG-1 on the list -- although I still love it so -- only because when I was writing a fic for each fandom last night, for the 'thons? It was fun to revisit Jack and Daniel and Sam, because I love them a lot, but I hadn't realized how much I'd missed Elizabeth and Rodney, how much I loved them and needed to write about them and Elizabeth! And Rodney! My people.

4. The Baby-Sitters Club. Which has to go on this list, since it's the last thing to make me cry! The BSC matters to me in a way that maybe no other fandom can, because these are the characters I've loved since first grade, the characters I grew up with. I may not like all of them an awful lot -- I may be growing disenchanted with Dawn and confused by Mallory -- but they are my girls. Plus, there's Richard Spier (Mary Anne's father) and he's too pretty to be real.

5. Andromeda. Since these are supposed to be my current favorites, I'm taking that pretty literally, and Drom just recaptured my heart with the Coda. It's pretty and dark and meaningful and hopeful and fatalistic and not, and it's got Trance. And Beka (did we mention the parent issues? Parent issues are my favorite kind of issues, especially the kind Beka has) and Harper and Tyr and yeah. We get the picture. And the Drom that exists in my head is a beautiful, dark, twisted and yet hopeful world and I love it so, so much.
