1 - Leave a comment, saying you want to be interviewed.
2 - I will respond; I'll ask you five questions.
3 - You'll update your journal with my five questions, and your five answers.
4 - You'll include this explanation.
5 - You'll ask other people five questions when they want to be interviewed.

Questions from [livejournal.com profile] divagypsy
1. What's your favorite thing about your school? PEG, the Program for the Exceptionally Gifted. It admits girls any time after they finish eighth grade, and it has saved the lives and sanity of more gifted youth than I can count--me included. The existence of PEG covers a multitude of sins, in my book.

2. You're hired to fix Andromeda - you get to pick one point during the series run, toss out all episodes after that, and rewrite it all. What episode is your stopping point; where do you think it all started going wrong? 2x12, "Ouroboros." See, I'm slightly biased on this one; I was taught to hate all things Dylan before I even started watching the show. But in my stolen-from-[livejournal.com profile] gvambat-opinion, RHW should be unfired, Trance should be purple, and the Commonwealth arc should not be bloody abandoned. Nor should the Magog Worldship arc, or the megalomaniac!Dylan arc. Oh, and Trance's tail should come back, and all characters should be in character.

3. How would you end Stargate? Ooh, tough one. See, [livejournal.com profile] gvambat has been telling me since before I can remember that she likes shows to end with the idea that the stories continue. So, SG-1 (original team, as you all know by now) still goes through the 'gate every week, so--nothing changes. No 'ship gets made canon, no one gets married, no one dies, no one goes to live on Abydos forever. Anubis is gone, because he's boring. But the System Lords are still out there.

Everyone has something to live for, something to do. Everyone is relatively happy. But it's not perfect, because nothing ever is. There's enough subtext for everyone.

Alternate, totally shallow response: Jack retires and kisses everyone from Hammond to Teal'c in a final gesture of goodwill. :)

4. Favorite musical act and why? Must confess at this point that I've never actually seen any group perform live, which sort of leaves me without much to go on... currently my favorite group of all time is the Trans-Siberian Orchestra, because Beethoven's Last Night is incredibly, amazingly, unbelievably beautiful.

5. Where would you like to live once you finish school? Wherever [livejournal.com profile] gvambat is, which means probably Ohio for at least a year. Probably not the south, but anywhere else is fair game. I'm considering graduate school in California at the moment, but that's subject to change at any moment.... The real answer, as I said, is wherever Gvambat is. Other details are non-essential. :)

So, who wants to be interviewed? (Please specify whether you mind fairly personal questions or not; I don't want to ask anyone anything ze's uncomfortable answering.)

Oh oh, pick me, pick me!

Btw, you should come join [livejournal.com profile] peg_alumnae. Current PEGs are welcome. And bring your friends. :)

Yes! *bounce* I've missed PEG a lot.

1) I can only speak for myself, but...yes and no. Yes, because PEG is such a wonderful time. Probably the only time in your life you'll ever be around so many people like you. But afterwards...the real world is kind of cool. There are men, and they can be fun! ;) PEG gives you a few extra years to figure out what you want to do, and after MBC... you can go do it. Life moves on, and you'll go off and do new things, probably feeling more empowered and secure than you would had you not gone to PEG.

2) And yet it sucks. In some ways, I feel so old. I'm 21. People my age (my former classmates) are graduating from college this year. This May, it will be four years since I graduated. I don't relate well to most people my age. Even (especially?) in graduate school-- they all seemed so young.

Now, I might as well be 30! I'm (almost) married with (furry) kids, I run my own business, and I think of college kids as, well, kids. (Present company excepted, of course.) Sometimes I'm a little bitter that my youth is already pretty much over. (But that's due mostly to choices I made.) It's why I like fandom so much-- age really doesn't matter online.

And I can't help wondering sometimes what life would be like if I'd gone to high school. Would I be almost ready to finish at Harvard or Yale with a pre-med degree? I'll never know. And you have to explain the PEG thing for the rest of your life, and that sucks. ;)

This is...not eloquent, but it's 1:30 AM and I'm tired.

3) I was in LOTR fandom for the Elvish and the meta, occasionally the silly. I never wrote or read fic.

But, in the books, I like Faramir/Eowyn the best.

4) Oh, god. There's no way to just name one. Top ten?
LOTR (of course)
The Riddle Master trilogy (Patricia McKillip)
The Prydain chronicles (Lloyd Alexander)
Tigana (Guy Gavriel Kay)
Moonwise (Greer Ilene Gilman)
Little Women (Louisa May Alcott)
The Fountainhead (Ayn Rand)
The Dark is Rising (Susan Cooper)
A Wrinkle in Time (Madeline L'Engle)
The Obernewtyn chronicles (Isobelle Carmody)

...I love HP, but they aren't my favorite books. Which is probably why I can mess with canon so much. ;)

Very cool. :) And, for the record, I think Ourborous is the perfect place to start over, too!

Now, me! Ask me! ;)

Hey, I'll do it. (Procrastinating? Who, me?)

Person questions are fine, but I'd probably friendslock it just to you then, which kinda cuts out step 5...*shrug*

:)

All right, I did answer these. Rather long, vaguely coherant answers, too.

The board ate it.

I'm going to wait for the technocidal urges to abait a bit before I try again.
