I had a strange dream. And
flamermase was there, and
mazi was there, and we were talking about shows. And it turned out Mason was a Hammond/Teal'c shipper, and Erica was bitchy because Buffy had been prematurely cancelled (which it wasn't.) What the frell?
Mason, please tell me you don't ship Teal'c/Hammond. I'm worried for your sanity.
Edit: Oh yes. Forgot to mention that I dreamt Sumita and the boy broke up, the boy started dating
venusinrapture and
noreverchaste and I watched the sunrise and ate sandwiches. Without the bread because, to quote her, "Bread is evil."
Nope, I don't know either.

Date: 2003-09-12 08:41 pm (UTC)Furthermore, I don't ship many poeple with Teal'c either. That's like trying to ship someone with Data from TNG. Maybe Teal'c/Braytak if he wasnt so icky looking...or Teal'c/Apophis as scorned lovers. Hmm, I dunno....

That was a rather amusing little typo....

Date: 2003-09-12 09:00 pm (UTC)Anyhow... Personally? Hammond/Jacob Carter. Secretly Hammond/Sam, but ONLY in jest. Hammond/just about anyone in jest; Jacob is the most serious.
Teal'c? I have trouble shipping him with any of the Tau'ri because his S4 arc convinced me that his loyalties don't go that deep. Maybe now things are different... but fairly recently (I forget when, dammit) he said when his time with the Tau'ri was done, he'd return to Chulak to be with his son.
-Teal'c's canonical relationships with women convince me that he can't possibly relate to Sam like that.
-Teal'c and Daniel have way too much history, and not of a good kind, to overcome.
-Teal'c/Hammond? Teal'c/Janet? Just no chemistry.
-I can sort of buy Jack/Teal'c in a buddyfuck way. If they both have a tendancy towards that sort of male-bonding, women are few, exchange of bodily fluids, I think it might make sense. I don't see it as any serious sort of romantic thing.
-
-Teal'c/Apophis: there's this really amusing T/A vid to "I Will Survive." But um, seriously? If there was ever anything sexual between them, it would have been seriously non-con. By the time Teal'c is high enough in Apophis's ranks to be of any interest to him, I think Teal'c is essentially convinced that the Goa'uld
some 'shippin' comments
Date: 2003-09-12 10:42 pm (UTC)Plus the fact that Teal'c is with the SGC at all.
After all, he could go be a revered rebel leader among his own kind, with his son, with Bra'tac. But he's with the Tau'ri. And it cannot be because he thinks they're the obvious winner.
Trust me...the Tau'ri, Earth, SGC, are underdogs. Damnably so. And Teal'c, being the realistic, sometime brutal, strategist he is, knows that the probability of the Earth eventually getting wiped clean by a Goa'uld is a lot more likely than them taking out the Goa'uld before then.
To take down Apophis (very slowly, I might add, and repeatedly) is one thing. To take the Goa'uld down. Whole other unlikely pie.
He's got to love these Tau'ri something deep to even stay at all, after everything. And to stay this long and to do things with them that do not directly affect Chulak or the Goa'uld at all. Things like crystal skulls and planet exploring.
Why stay for that unless you wanted to? Why not get back into the fight on Chulak, etc? It can't be just honor, because if it is, the greater honor is in going home and fighting and setting things right.
- Hammond/anyone...um no. I think that Hammond is too sentimental and still loves his wife.
- Teal'c/Sam...I can see it kind of. In a weird way. "Birthright" convinces me that Teal'c *could* relate to Major Carter as *SAM*. As a Major and a scientist, no. As *Sam*, a woman who can sometimes resemble his "fierce as a storm, gentle as the sunshine" description of Drey'auc. Would he ever act on it, sexually? Hell, no. Because I think he knows exactly what kind of hell that would raise with Jack. Plus that little bandy of Teal'c's in "Space Race"...
- Teal'c/Daniel - Way too much like incest for Teal'c who calls DanielJackson his brother. And yes, there's bad history. I think Daniel has forgiven Teal'c, personally. Forgotten, no. But I think he knows that Teal'c didn't want to do it. Plus I think it would be too much for Daniel, who probably is so scared of falling in love (*warding off ficbunnies vigorously*)...
- Teal'c/Janet - I can see a semi-clinical, we need this for just the physical release fuck buddy kind of way. Not that likely, though. I see it working precisely because there isn't that much chemistry. Because they can do it like Daniel and Jack play chess. Smile, have fun, and go back to life. Gah! FIC BUNNIES!
- Teal'c/Jack - Teal'c might, because we know that he called Jack his "apprentice", but Jack is also his C.O. I don't know. I can see them doing it in the same way Janet and Teal'c might. I can also see something deep and profound and doggedly unspoken.
- Teal'c/Bra'tac - Hell yeah. You don't get that much testosterone and close proximity and war and and death and sheer discipline without some sex happening. I see Jaffa society having some very strange and good parallels to Spartan/Greek society, in which men doing it...not so weird. Especially in Teal'c younger days. Tell
Re: some 'shippin' comments
Date: 2003-09-13 08:37 am (UTC)Anyhow. I think with Hammond, you just have to remember that the "screw the regs" attitude that everyone has in fic? Not real. Doubly so for Hammond. He's the commander of the base, he's not going to sleep around.
I like Teal'c/Sam interactions; I really do. I think they're woefully absent in most of canon, but when they do show up--squee. Space Race. Yeah. But I think the way Teal'c relates to Tau'ri humans (mostly Sam, since that's who we see him with most) is v. different from how he relates to Jaffa women, certainly until Birthright. In Crossroads, imo, we basically discover that Teal'c doesn't consider monogamy to be important for men. And in Birthright, he's smiling when he says his wife is dead. That just totally squicked me. Since Sam has seen Teal'c interact with Drey'auc and Shau'nac, I don't think she'd ever get involved with Teal'c, because she wouldn't let herself be treated like that.
Teal'c/Daniel: Does Teal'c ever call Daniel brother? I see it a lot in fic and discussion, but I can't remember any specific incidences... Teal'c calls Jack brother in Tangent.
Well I can sort of see Janet in S1 as the type who might do buddyfucks, after she adopts Cassandra, I think she settled down and gave up that kind of thing for the sake of the kid. Plotbunnies, damn you.
Teal'c/Jack: Yeah. I think I see it the same way you do... but all that flirting in Orpheus! Jack is so weird.
Teal'c/Bra'tac: Yep. With you there.
The Tau'ri are definately the underdog. Got that. But because of S5 and Let's Kill All The Allies, they're also the strongest of the resistance. If Shau'nac had been right, Teal'c would have returned to Chulak in S4. As it is, basically every time we see the Jaffa rebellion, they're getting their asses kicked. Teal'c's in a better position as Tau'ri liason to the Jaffa, and in a position to accomplish more. As for being on the loosing side in the first place, that's a Teal'c made in CotG--and again in Threshold--that shows that honor runs deeper even than pragmatism.
Basically, Teal'c is planning to leave the SGC eventually; it's not part of his long-term plans. If he had a serious romantic attachment with someone--probably Daniel or Sam; I see both Jack and Teal'c as too alpha to have a romance per se--that someone would want Teal'c to stay.
Besides, this whole Ishta thing sort of precludes any other current relationships. Not because Teal'c is monogamous--he's not--but because whoever it was would kick his ass if he tried to pull that on them.

Date: 2003-09-13 10:18 am (UTC)Well, sorta. "We are brothers, Daniel Jackson," but it's from Threshold and he's trying to convince Daniel to let him go, so...make of that what you will.
Mostly agree with you, but....HAMMOND/SAM! TWO CANNON HUGS! ONE CANNON KISS! ENGAGED! WORK FAST! LITTLE GENERAL!
