Things I didn't know: Eliza Dushku doesn't drink.

This is neat, because I have automatic kinship and respect for those who, like me, abstain, but it is unneat, because ONE HUNDRED PERCENT LESS drunken RPF is now canonical. :(

If I may ask you a personal question:

what are your reasons for abstaining from alcohol?

As I recently said elsewhere: My mother is an alcoholic, my father is a teetotaler, alcoholism runs on both sides of my family, and I don't fancy those odds.

Because I didn't have any models of healthy alcohol consumption growing up (and because of aforementioned family history), I feel the safest way (for me) is to abstain entirely.

It's considered deviant in US society to abstain totally from alcohol. It's seen as bizarre. I also don't drink, and there's a lot of pressure to do it. I thought it was interesting that people found it bizarre that Eliza would play a bartender when she doesn't drink -- as if they only hire actors who are also assassins on their off time to play violent criminals? XD I think it's really cool that she doesn't drink. :O

There's still "didn't-know-it-was-spiked" first-time drunk!fics. Takes the guilt 'n self-blame right out of it for her, since it wouldn't be her fault and all. :)

The only time I've ever been in the same room as Eliza Dushku, she said (I almost wrote "she told me") she does not curse, in response to a question as to what her favorite curse word was. (Her mother was in the room, FWIW.)

I've read interviews in which she curses.

As a result, I pretty much don't trust Eliza when she talks about what she doesn't do.
