Problem:
+Fred seems to have met Professor Seidel in undergrad.
+Fred seems to have lived with her parents until she left Texas for UCLA's graduate program.
Solution:
Fred did her undergrad at a school in Texas. By the time she was ready for grad school, Professor Seidel had taken a position at UCLA, and Fred followed him.
... solves the continuity problem, but makes Fred's life just that much worse.
