Wow, am I ever perverse. Seeking out kink fic, I stumbled across probably one of the most disturbing BDSM pieces I've found--disturbing because it's so well-written, and so intense, and so... intense.

It's in the X-Files fandom, and I've never seen X-Files (this is where the "Ari is a pathetic dork" part comes in,)so I don't know how well it relates to canon, character-wise. However, if you haven't seen the X-Files, it does make an excellent read, and she does have consistent internal characterization. It comes with a set of WARNINGS that you should read if you take my advice and read this now, if not sooner: It's slash, it's BDSM, it details a 24/7 master/slave relationship with no safewords. There's a lot of pain play, but personally I find the D/s content to be more disturbing. Deep character issues, too.

Should you read it? Probably. But if you squick easily, please don't.

Actually, I don't think anyone on my friends' list is as perverse as I am, but you should still read it.

On that note (and since I'm a comment grubbing whore)--if you read fic in any fandom, rec me something. Slash preferred, and if the above didn't convince you, I'm virtually unsquickable. If it's not from a show I've seen or book I've read, I'd appreciate something that doesn't require a lot of backstory.

Reading about consensual pain play doesn't squick me at all. But 'ships where the dominance and submission aren't just part of a scene, aren't just a game, but are actually, well--real--that's disturbing. A turn-on, but disturbing as hell. I don't know why, per se, that's just how my body and brain and libido work.

ive been a part of the D/s scene in a minor way for a couple, i find the idea of BDSM far more disturbing than D/s could ever be. We all take part in some D/s form once in a while, if your girl/boyfriend pins you down, kisses you pasionatly and then you both proceed to have sexual intercourse with him/her still holding you do that is still D/s in some form, true it is not the full on Dom/submissive thing, but it is just a part of some peoples lives, it doesnt mean that the Dom/me treats the sub badly or anything, tbh i've known people in such a relationship where, the sub is treated exceptionaly well. nearly always its something that kept strictly private, just as bdsm is.

Well yes, I get that there's almost always a power component in any relationship, but (and I'm talking strictly in terms of fic here) I think what bothers me is that D/s turns me on/intrigues me so much. Maybe becasue I'm way more in touch with the psychological component. I don't really have much of a relationship with pain, but I definately do know about power and about--okay, I've decided this is ventuing into the way too personal realm, so let's just leave it like this:

I don't have a problem with either D/s or BDSM in theory, in fic, or in practice so long as it's sane, safe and consensual. I'm more frightened by my own reaction and relation to D/s than I am by my reaction to BDSM.
