Give me a character from any fandom you know I am into and I will tell you:
a. My favorite thing about that character.
b. My least favorite thing about that character.
c. One person I would ship them with in their own verse.
d. One crossover ship for them I think would be neat.

I was going to ask about someone from the Whedonverse, but that seems too obvious. So, off-topic for me, but I hope not for you: Dr Daniel Jackson.

b. I think the thing about this is that we see him when he's immature and mostly when he hasn't thought yet about what he believes (and instead acts more like a parrot). Then he gets put in a situation where saying anything else involves...well, death. I think while he has many faults (and many of them that won't change), many of the most serious ones are ones that (if JKR acknowledged that most people change and grow after age 17) he would likely grow out of.

And okay, that was long-ish. >.>

d. Only heard of Spike out of those three. >.>

I don't think he is necessarily truly racist. He spouts it off, but I'm not convinced he truly thinks it. Was he a bully? Somewhat yes, though it seems mostly a Slytherin-Gryffindor rivalry, where he takes on the Gryffs. And while I don't think he's right to do so, Harry and co. did just as nasty stuff to him at times. Was he a bit of a nasty bugger? Yes, but again, that's some immaturity crap. I think your biggest squick you mention is more to do with "I am a Malfoy and can get away with whatever" and wealth is at best only a part of it. Not necessarily better, but post-final battle stuff can smack that out of his head very easily. And considering I don't think Lucius will politically ever get back in completely, I think he'll get that "rug" (so to speak) pulled out from under his feet.

Why he interests me is because he is a complex and flawed character. Reading "this is a good person whee" and good things happen to them, laaa doesn't excite me. I enjoy reading about flawed people dealing with those flaws and having to deal with issues, etc. And he fits that bill.

Then again, I choose many of my favorite characters (if not most) is their complexity, whether a "good" character or "bad" character. More complex characters are more human, less Mary Sue. And in fiction, that's what I like.

Dumbledore. Because I think they might discover mutual intellectual interests and have similar ideas about the intensity of their relationship.

What a good idea; I think you're absolutely right. So, let me know if you write a Daniel/Dumbledore - I'd love to read it.

Because I'm trying to pick someone less obvious...

Ainsley Hayes.

I keep meaning to write Dana/Ainsley. Also Ainsley/Ann Stark (who is played by Felicity Huffman).

Must do that sometime.

I abandon my attempt to not be obvious and say: Rupert Giles. :)

b. TALK TO YOUR FRIENDS SOMETIMES. Especially when you have information that could be important for all of them to know. Or that they could help you out with.

YES! Admittedly, would screw up a lot of Season Three if he did, but honestly!

Then again, a lot of his inability to communicate probably stems from being an abused child - anyone else want to join me in hunting down and killing Roger?

Yes, but be sure not to kill Roger Burkle.

Isn't it odd that Wesley and Fred's fathers have the same name?

We in fandom tend to feed each other's addictions, don't we? It would be lamentable if not for the fact that it is totally awesome!

Also, Giles/Tara ftw!

Now see, this is interesting and not what I'd expected.

I can honestly say that I'd never thought of that pairing before, probably because parental incest squicks me in a way that sibling cest doesn't. But still, now that you've said it, it strikes me that you're not wrong about the two of them.

YOu know, I have only seen the first and second seaons and each episode only once. In fact, I pretty much watched the first two seasons in 48 hours of extreme VM which is not conducive to memory retention LOL and I DO NOT REMEMBER THAT AT ALL!! OMG, how could I have missed that? Were they like kissing kissing?

OMG!!! I clearly fail at fannishness because that's not subtext, baby. That's full on father-daughter (SHE'S HOLDING HIS FACE WITH HER TWO HANDS! OMG! WITH HER TWO HANDS!) liplocky text!!!!!

I have long thought that I should rewatch VM as I inhaled it, much like pound cake, and who doesn't wanna eat pound cake like every day?

Once Ari opens one's eyes on the subject, they stay opened. "Personal space" and "privacy" are also concepts that don't seem to exist in the Mars vocabulary.

Oh your icon. LOL

*loves*

I'm beginning to realize Ari's special gifts. :)

I'm going to have to rewatch again.
