I am Constructing a Plan to remedy these things, also to pack, and since I have no school no work no obligations and no responsibilities except those things till THURSDAY I think I will be okay.

The idea of writing a to-do list is scaring me. So maybe I should just start doing things off it.

I was going to work on it this afternoon, but I've decided instead to put on a recording of the Messiah and go take a nap. I have, in the past week, turned into a person who naps.

(I've been trying to read Greeley's Second Spring, but Chucky's depression depresses me, and when he's not being depressed he's being all adorable and coupley with Rosemarie, and that doesn't help me either. So I've switched to Virgin and Martyr, and I'm coping much better. Probably because Catherine, Nick and Blackie are all mostly miserable for the entire book...)

Okay, hmmm. I haven't been able to reread Virgin and Martyr because of the torture and the church being horrible and Blackie not liking nuns, so I'm not really seeing how it works as comfort reading. But, hey, if it's working for you ...

I am reading a collection of essays about House, which my mother found bizarre. Is my need to read academic stuff about my TV pop culture weird?

I have issues with Virgin and Martyr, and I think it's probably the one of Greeley's books that comes closest to disproving that Rolheiser quote they keep putting on the covers, about no one ever leaving the church because of a Greeley novel...

But it's easier to read right now because they're miserable. Not nice of me, I know.

Oh, and I'm not yet convinced of the virtues of naps when I know that sleeping is currently my way of avoiding the real world...

Anniversary of John's death tomorrow; when I dropped in on my mother this afternoon she was napping. It is a time-honoured way of taking time out in my family. If it goes too long, or gets insane (like when I was sleeping 16 hours a day) then maybe you need to worry, but at the moment - take a little time out.
