happy new year?
Dec. 20th, 2003 05:43 pm1. What did you do in 2003 that you'd never done before? I drove... okay, I did that before, but not legally. Ah yes. I wrote fanfic.
2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year? I'm pretty sure I failed to keep every resolution I've ever made, but it's not entirely my fault. I got all my shit together last Christmas break, and then it all got ripped to shreds. But it's better now. And yes, I'll probably make resolutions for 2004 that I won't keep.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth? No.
4. Did anyone close to you die? [this space left intentionally blank until the year is over as some things, one really doesn't want to jinx.]
5. What countries did you visit?... Kansas?
6. What would you like to have in 2004 that you lacked in 2003?. Willpower. Strength. A dependable ministerperson or two. A car. A summer job. The ability to drive. Scorpius/Braca slash.
7. What date from 2003 will remain etched upon your memory, and why? June 13, because it's the day that "Fallen" and "Homecoming" aired in the states. Trust me, I was counting the days till this one. I was counting the minutes. I don't think I'll ever forget how much I was looking forward to [spoiler].
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year? Surviving.
9. What was your biggest failure? My feeble, futile attempts to make the ministerpeople take care of me.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury? Nope. Except for a couple of colds.
11. What was the best thing you bought? Chapstick.
14. Where did most of your money go? Airplane tickets, schoolbooks, phonecards, Christmas presents.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about? Fallen/Homecoming and Thanksgiving.
16. What song will always remind you of 2003? Beethoven's Last Night.
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
Happier or sadder? Happier.
Older or wiser? Much as I wish I'd gotten wiser, I fear that I'm really just a year older.
Thinner or fatter? The same?
Richer or poorer? If you count the paychecks I haven't gotten yet but really hope I do, then probably richer?
18. What do you wish you'd done more of? ...I can't think of anything.
19. What do you wish you'd done less of? Stressing out about school, accidentally booking flights to Cincinatti, stressing, worrying...
20. How will you be spending Christmas? Reading my shiny new Holmes/Watson slash. Here, in New York, with the family of origin.
22. Did you fall in love in 2003? Yes.
23. How many one-night stands? None.
24. What was your favorite TV program? *cough snort cough* Stargate SG-1
25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year? Hate is a tricky word. My emotions about a lot of people have become a lot more complex, of the "I hate you so much because I loved you so, so, so much and still do, and because I need you, and you aren't there..." but... hate isn't really the most accurate word.
26. What was the best book you read? Good Omens and Charlotte's Web and The Complete Sherlock Holmes and all five Harry Potter books.
27. What was your greatest musical discovery? The Trans-Siberian Orchestra.
28. What did you want and get? The world on a string, the moon, whimsy, happiness, true love, religion, and brand-new published H/W slash. Oh, and straight A's.
29. What did you want and not get? The ministerpeople. A DVD player. Episodes of Buffy. A time-loop machine. Canon kisses.
30. What was your favorite film of this year? Movies... movies... I did see movies this year, really! Um Chicago is the only movie I saw in the theater. Yeah I know, leave me alone.
31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you? Talked on the phone, opened presents, and went to class. It was my eighteenth.
32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying? A time-loop machine.
33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2003? I would say "whatever was clean," but that might be something of an over-statement.
34. What kept you sane? Stargate and
gvambat
35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most? Michael Shanks.
36. What political issue stirred you the most? Iraq.
37. Who did you miss? (in no particular order)
noreverchaste, the ministerpeople,
gvambat, and Jeane.
38. Who was the best new person you met? [intentionally ambigious] Megan[/intenional ambiguity]
39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2003: The Divine is good, don't do flash, and if you're nice to people, they probably still won't be nice to you. [Andromeda 1x14 "Harper 2.0"]
40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
When I was seventeen it was a very good year
It was a very good year for small town girls and soft summer nights
We'd hide from the lights on the village green
When I was seventeen
-"It Was A Very Good Year," sung by Frank Sinatra.
*ping* I'm here for the night but Mom will be using the computer. If you want, call. Love.
