I'm so glad I'm not in junior high school anymore. I'm reading HP book 4, and all that fuss over who to go to the dance with... all those hormones and no one knowing what sex is... It all must be very distressing. No wonder most people remember middle school with a sort of shocked horror. Of course, I spent most of my time at middle school garnering up enough courage to come out, and the remainder of it regretting that I had, and most of my hormones were directed at people so unlikely to return my affection that it didn't even bother me anymore... and of course, I attended only one dance, and there almost everyone danced in groups.

Sometimes, of course, being queer is like being in junior high all over again...

*is an avid, avid HP shipper* What ships have you latched on to?

I'm an avid Tom Riddle shipper. Tomfic is absolutely gorgeous.. And Snape/Harry is a common one, Lavender/Parvati is sort of a given, except that the characters in and of themselves are on the aggravating side in terms of writing a canon fic, Sirius/Lupus/James is also common.. Minerva/Dumbledore isn't as common, as well as Minerva/Hermione, for the simple reason that most people aren't fans of writing of elderly people in terms of slash. It would be something like writing Gandalf/Frodo.. Potential, of course, and so much subtext, but the age difference as well as the wisdom and nobility of a Gandalf or a Dumbledore makes the thought of them hooking up in any such way almost irreverent to people.

H/D isn't my favorite ship, mainly for the reason that it's overdone. But I can see lots of subtext there - personally, it's in the vibrant hatred. Most fics are either Draco forcing himself on Harry, Harry falling in love with Draco despite of House differences and sworn enemy-hood and the like, or something of the sort. It's the "evil"/"good" appeal. Like I said, ridiculously typical.. I scream running in the other direction when I see an H/D, unless it's angsty. Rape!H/D is in whole different category than your run of the mill fluffy bunny H/D.

There are also bunches of Weasleycest pairings, most often the twins but also Ginny/Percy.

I'm a fan of Tom/Percy, and I did write one quirky Percy/Draco.. Ginny, too, is rather appealing for such fics, but Tom/Ginny is just plain far too obvious.

Yes. But I have yet to see a fic that involves Neville, probably for good reason..

I love the old and wise, but most don't. Like I said, it's seen as irreverent, and also, most people write slashfic of those characters that they deem the most gorgeous and the like (i.e., the abundance of Legolasfics), and the old and wise usually don't quite make it into that category.

Realize that the second after I said I have yet to see a Neville fic, I started thinking Tom/Neville or Draco/Neville.. the plot bunnies are churning, if bunnies can churn. These bunnies churn.
