At the bookstore today I saw a book called March [amazon link], which is Little Women fic from Mr. March's pov.

I mean, which is a stunningly original and creative concept and whoda ever thought of retelling the story from a more mature and adult point of view?

That is the most original idea I've ever heard of, for serious!

Item two, my own personal sorting hat to the rescue (no worries, I have a ficbunny!)

[Poll #666413]

Do you think she changed her name to Matilda Honey when she was adopted? And is it really needful to cut spoilers when my icon is an illustration of the novel's very last scene?

You know, I want to say she's a mixture of Gryffindor and Ravenclaw in the bookverse, and a mixture of Ravenclaw and Slytherin in the movieverse. Only I picked Gryffindor for both 'verses....and I don't know why. O_o

I think she did change her last name to Honey. It seems logical, since she Miss Honey is more of a parent-figure than Matilda's own parents.

Absolutely. As far as I know, it would be the done thing. Plus, you know, Honey and Wormwood, very opposite things. ;)

Furthermore, helpful website about adoption in Britain informs me that you cannot marry your adoptive parent ...

I read March a while back, but I can't find a review in my journal. I may have been too lazy to write one up.

If I remember correctly, it was very well written but Brooks did some odd things to the characters and the backstory.

Personally I endorse cut-tagging spoilers on like everything. And a reader (of your LJ) certainly wouldn't necessarily know the icon comes from the final scene of the book, even if they *have* read the book and certainly not if they haven't. Of course, it's *Matilda* so spoiler cutting isn't a huge deal either way, but I tend to err on the side of caution.

I haven't read March, but I haven't heard good things about it. Brooks is a very good writer, but her ideas are a little odd. I read Year of Wonders and loved it up until the final chapter, which I hated and which coloured my appreciation for the rest of the book.

And yes, I'd err on the side of spoiler-cuts. Just because it sets a good example.
