post-ep: VMars 2x02 "Driver Ed"
Oct. 5th, 2005 10:24 pmSooo! VMars. Bullet point "what happened in this ep"
*A-Plot -- Veronica tries to figure out who cliffed the bus. It's not the bus driver; he was planning to run away with his girlfriend, so is sleazy, but not suicidal. His daughter Jessie (played by someone named Ari) becomes sort-of friends with Veronica, who likes her better when she starts hitting people.
*Meg isn't dead, but she's in serious condition.
*Veronica feels really lousy about the bus thing having happened, especially the human reaction to it. Explotitation, bad.
*Silent Bob (okay, okay, that's who he is, all right?) mans the quik-mart where the bus driver got his last meal (this is the place where V got left behind, right?)
*The Baseball Player Guy is running for mayor and wants Keith to run for Sherriff. Keith says no because he doesn't want Veronia to have to face the bad shit from last year that will get dragged up if he does. V thinks he should run because he makes her feel protected.
*Hearing about the tragedy that interrupted Skanky Neighbor + Bus Driver's affair makes Veronica carpe diem and do sex with Duncan.
*Seeing the fallout from the Sherriff's incompetant investigation makes Keith decide to run for Sherriff after all.
*Keith can tell that Veronica did sex because their relationship is in every way non-sexual.
*B-Plot: Wallace gets a girlfriend.
Wow, that B-plot was pretty weak, even for a VMars ep.
This episode felt better structured than the previous one did, less info-dumps. I enjoyed that both Keith and Veronica are letting their better angels talk them back into the detective business -- or, like, the Helping People Out business. And Wallace using V's mad detective skills was a joy to behold.
Ship-wise... I squeed like a fangirl when Duncan carried Veronica to bed. And then bounced up and down when they cut to the commercial break and Dad goes, "What?" and I go, "Three two one fandom go boom!" and Dad goes "Huh?" and I go, "Duncan and Veronica are going to have sex! And fandom go boom, because they want Veronica to have sex with Logan. So they'll be unhappy." "Are you happy?" "YES!"
Yeah. Total, total, total Veronica/Duncan fangirl here. (You all realize, of course, that isn't to the exclusion of any other Veronica or Duncan ships. I am an equal opportunity fangirl.) Squeed like *crazy*. Oh yes.
And hey, Cordelia/Logan is quite pretty. They can be naked together as much as Rob Thomas wants.
*Beaver finds an empty condom package. Nice.
*Cordy + Logan are hiding their relationship from everyone, which just makes it all the hotter for both of them.
***Guest Starrage!***
Kristin Dattilo, who played Skanky Neighbor Woman who was sleeping with bus driver Doyle, played Doyle's wife Harry in "Bachelor Party." I knew she looked familiar, but couldn't place her till I imdb'd. *DUDE*
"If the cuddling is the best part, you're doing it wrong." True/false?
I'm a terrible person, but every time Keith and Veronica gaze soulfully into each other's eyes, I'm convinced he wants so badly to kiss her.
Yep, I'm done. More bullet-points:
Good:
-Keith/Veronica
-Meg isn't dead
-Duncan/Veronica had sex!
-Wallace's l33t detective skillz
-Kevin Smith
-Doyle's girlfriend
-Keith/Veronica
Bad:
-"If the cuddling is the best part, you aren't doing it right."
-Wallace's girlfriend. (It's kind of selfish of me, but I prefer him either alone or with V.)
-3-2-1 fandom go boom! (actually, that might qualify as a good thing)

I liked Veronica/Logan during their secretive dating phase, but as in an actual relationship I prefer Veronica with Duncan. Call me insane or a hopeless romantic, but they're too adorable together. Hell, even Kristen prefers Duncan! :)
Eeee, Kevin Smith! :D
Veronica/Keith. Oh, how I loved that last scene where Veronica was all paranoid that he probably saw that she'd recently had sex.

Date: 2005-10-06 07:06 pm (UTC)I feel happier in my hopeless-romantic-Duncan/Veronica-thing since it's a well-known fact* that all the teeny-boppers are Logan/Veronica fen. And my ability to love that pairing was pretty much totally tainted by knowing about the batshit fandom before knowing the characters.
I was surprised that fandom went boomier over them having sex than them being cuddly together in ep1. I need to post on the sex-vs-cuddling thing and how I seem to disagree with not only Logan but with fandom as a whole about their relative importance in a healthy relationship.
*I guess?
