thoughts of a mad fangirl
Sep. 2nd, 2005 12:55 am-a mad fangirl, when depressed, googles "character-of-choice/ofc" and feels not a jot of guilt about it, but is disappointed that the Mary Sues she thus discovers are, in fact, not goodfic.
-a mad fangirl, when reading fic for the Old Show, realizes that she is accidentally picturing the New Characters instead of the Old Characters, which leads to Lilah Morgan looking like CJ Cregg.
-it takes a mad fangirl a full fifteen minutes to realize why she might not want to name Fred's roommate "Shell" in fluff-fic.
-a mad fangirl resists very strongly the temptation to write overly-self-revelatory CJ/Tara fic.
-at least for now

Date: 2005-09-03 12:57 am (UTC)You totally make me feel not alone. I do that, too, and I never find what I'm looking for. Thus I have to write it and hide it somewhere that it can never be found. Because nobody must know my s00per sekrit love for MarySue. Ever.
Once, I'd like to read a *good* Mary Sue or OFC fic. Really.
Once. Just once.
I mean, inserting original characters to expunge inner angst doesn't excuse you from grammar, or you know, knowing anything about canon (not directed at you, but at OFC writers you have written Rouge instead of Rogue for *years* whilst stealing away Remy-poo. Or in a fandom you understand: stealing "Angle" from Buffy).
