poll results:
Aug. 4th, 2005 09:41 amI did lots of polls in the past couple of days but didn't analyze the results at all because I suck. (And am lazy.) The avoid-LJ-and-be-creative-before-noon plan failed at about 9:15 this morning, which might be a personal record. Fifteen minutes of avoiding LJ! I did finish my Multiverse fic though, sort of. Will probably need to request specific betas of some sort, pretty soon actually as is due in 11 days. Eeek.
Right, so, the point of this post was poll results!
1. 66% of the entities reading this LJ are people! That's thirty-three ticky boxes. Also reading: 8 personas, 2 personality fragments, 2 collectives, and entities identifying as: {zombie, manifestation, someone else's dream fragment, and text}. Even though I clarified in the comments, I think the poll was still kind of confusing. Possibly because I posted it at ~8:45 in the morning and my brain wasn't functioning properly yet.
thousandpages discussed the issue I raised over here, so at least my random question gave one person pause!
2. The fic archiving poll. Well, everyone wants to be able to sort by pairing and fandom, with characters coming in slightly behind that. Rating/length are way down there, and genre {het, slash, femslash, poly, gen} are way down there. So naturally, in the process of archiving my fic, I'm tagging it by fandom and pairing, character, and genre. Simply because it was easier, okay? Am curious as to whether making a "PWP" tag would be useful. Also, many people (okay, maybe five) said that chronological within the series would be helpful, so I'm including those as tags too.
On the other hand, I'm running into problems, which I shall discuss... below? Above? In another post? I don't know yet. [note to self: discuss problems w/ archiving, as is more exciting than actually archiving or, God forbid, writing.]
3. Ticky box poll: boy, do you guys ever love ticky boxes. :D
4. Giles/Scooby pairings. About a quarter of you (broad you/fandom in general) aren't squicked by Giles/Scooby pairings at all. Another quarter think Giles/Buffy is the squickiest of them all. Of the other 50%, the largest group thinks Giles/Willow is the squickiest, and then most other Giles/Scooby pairings are tied at around 6 ticks a person.
The least squicky pairing is Giles/Buffy. Er, okay guys. Way to be. Followed by Giles/Willow, Giles/Xander + Giles/Oz, and Giles/Faith.
A good half of you think Giles/Dawn is infinitely more squicky than other Giles/Scooby pairings. The rest think it's just as squicky or slightly more so, and no one thinks it's less squicky.
A handful of people think Angel and Riley with Giles are squicky for similar reasons, and even less think Giles/Spike is, but there was only one tick for Giles/Anya as squicky on account of, er, whatever it is that makes Giles/Scooby pairings squicky.
5. Is Rodney McKay butch? 85% of us said no, which is something of a relief (though, obviously, it's fine for your interpretation to be different!) -- for a minute there I thought I was going mad.
Er! I meant to post something interesting about problems re: archiving fic. It has something to do with friendship and subtext and ensemble fics and being unable to effectively use my own tags to sort fic into manageable lists. OMG wtf is wrong with me? And my creativity seems to have died. *crash* But will attempt to work on ficathony stuff, or at least some ficcy stuff. 'Cos. Yeah. Two hours yet till lunchtime.

Re-posting to use Tara & Dawn icon ;)
Date: 2005-08-04 04:00 pm (UTC)You already know I like Giles/Tara, and I'll throw in that I think Giles/Anya was strongly hinted in S6 and could've easily become canon.
