multiverse wtf

So, am working on Multiverse fic, finally. My only problem is that the fic is DEMANDING to be femslashy. No, like, it involves characters I cannot write together without having them USTing like crazy over each other. I think I can work in the requested pairing (which is het), but it definitely seems to be a side pairing to the overwhelmingly not-really-technically-canon femslash pairing that I'm trying really hard not to be writing.

*facepalms*

Um, on a completely unrelated really note, does anyone (especially inlovewithnight) have any (non-movie spoilerish) Jayne meta?

Er, but in other news, I'm feeling okay. And the shiny makes my head spin.

Hmm, you found the IR essay...I did Jayne/Kaylee at ship_manifesto, that has some Jayne analysis in it, but it's mostly the same stuff from IR.

I need to do more meta. I haven't meta'd in forever!

Hmm. Well, can I try to pick your brain? Because this is the thing that I'm having trouble wrapping my brain around. Why would -- why would someone want to sleep with him? Especially, say, someone like, say, Fred. Maybe I should just reread "Full of Stars," but -- give me your reasoning. Because one of my biggest things is that people are attracted to people who are their intellectual equals in some way? So I don't see -- but explain it to me! Work your magic and explain why someone like Fred would be attracted to Jayne.

Well, in "Full of Stars," it's because she's in this whole new world, she's freaking out, and she just wants some comfort. It's a seize the day kinda thing, in that case. He's offering her something with no strings, no expectations, just feel good because you're pretty, I'm pretty, and you need to LIVE instead of just existing. Or something like that.

But more generally...well, there's good-girls-love-bad-boys syndrome. There's just being bored and horny and wanting something to, pardon the pun, do. Jayne could protect her or save her from something, and then you have hero-syndrome. Or she could just get to know him, realize he's a decent if tactless person, and decide she can look beyond that.

I think the intellectual equals thing may be true in the long-term (though I can think of exceptions), but for a short-term fling? Plenty of other stuff to base it on.

I hope something in that mess was helpful. If not, I'll see if I can come up with something better. :)
