Got Weslah ficathon assignment. Shall comment further in locked post.

But the exciting news fandom-wise is my dad is spending $60 on DVDs for me! My choice! I spent $27 of it tonight, and got the following:

-ATGB series 5
-Farscape 4.3 ("Unrealized Realities," "Kansas" (OMG teh_kiss@ge!) "Terra Firma" and "Twice Shy" (OMG teh_more_kiss@ge!). VERY excited.

But I need you-my-flist to help me decide what else I should get. I can get ONE of the following:

1. Vicar of Dibly S1-3. Actually too expensive for price range, even with 25% discount that will go into effect for Borders DVDs soon, but tempting regardless. Don't have this in any other form.
2. Dark Angel S1. Drawbacks include that [livejournal.com profile] gvambat already has it. Plusses include Michael Weatherly is hot.
3. Angel S1 -- ditto #2, only replace "Michael Weatherly" with "Glenn Quinn" and "Alexis Denisof"
4. Full House S1. Don't have it in any form, not likely to have access to Nick at Nite anytime soon, and OMG teh_slash. Drawbacks include: it's the kind of thing really best watched at 5 in the morning with college buddies while trying not to panic about the end of the year.
5. Firefly. I don't really need to tell my flist the plusses. My girlfriend has it is the minus.
6. Stargate SG-1 S4. Girlfriend doesn't have it; have most of it bootlegged from interweb in really crap quality. It's S4, which isn't as bad as I always think it is, but on the other hand, S4. The season of the cracktastic 'ship that should never have been unless you're into that.
7. Tru Calling S1. Plusses: don't have it in any form, never seen it, Eliza Dushku is sex on legs. Minuses: what if it's not any good? Flisters? Opinions?
8. I could also wait until VMars S1 comes out on DVD, or I could decide to buy that with my own money and spend more of Dad's on something else, like one of the above.

Fliissssters! I can't make any decisions without you!

I should point out that at the comics store, there are used prices for all of these that are in my price range.

Ummm.... everything I've heard about "Tru Calling" has been good.

& *shakes head* I hope you're not seriously considering Full House?! XD God, Re, nooooo!!! Do *not* spend money, even parent's money, on it. :P

I'd either go w/DA, even though gvambat has it, 'cuz it lends itself pretty good to repeated viewings, or VMars, since you're so hooked. XP Although that requires patience, so.... (actually, I'd go with whatever's cheapest, and hence what you could get most of). XP

Ok, /unhelpful. Sorry. :P

Although, agh, that was a snap decision cuz it's one of the ones on there that I'd want that I don't have. And also, hee, you like The Vicar of Dibley! :D

Because the ones I'd squee most over (Angel, Farscape, Firefly) I have except Veronica Mars, thus.

What's so wrong with S4 Stargate SG1?

Have not seen enough of Dark Angel and I have to say I can't really picture wanting The Vicar of Dibley on DVD. At least, not for a while.

I've only heard bad about Tru Calling but then I stopped listening after the early bad comments, and I think I remember hearing it improved? If it were me, I'd aquire a bootleg first. But then, maybe your dad spending money on it, not you, is perfect and if you hate it you can sell it?

As for Full House, I was gonna be disdainful but hee, it could be funto have on DVD.

In conclusion...I have no idea. :D Aren't I helpful? ;)

Eliza Dushu is sex on legs, yes -- but sadly Tru Calling didn't keep my attention, whereas Veronica Mars has me squealing with joy. Such a great show! She's so smart and funny, mature but still very young. Her dad is the best dad ever! I adore Lilly. Invest your money, Ari. Instant gratification isn't everything!

Of course, I love SG-1 Season 4 but it's re-running all the time, right? Not as much need for the DVDs.

Keith is great! I just watched "You Think You Know Somebody" on Thursday and, wow. He's such a terrific dad -- but human, too. Not perfect, but very real.

Lilly I like in theory but wouldn't like so much as a person, showing once again that our taste in fictional women is very, very different.

Well, I guess the thing is, my favourite TV characters are usually ones I'd never want to meet in real life! Teyla, maybe, because she's got a kind of Tara-like core even with all the bad-ass fighting skills. But all the "bad girls" are fun and sexy because they're fictional. Give me Dawn and Tara for real women, and Gunn for a real guy :)

Rodney, as much as I love him, would be too much in reality.

Hmm. If you don't have cable, then SG-1 S4 might be your best bet. I'm debating if I should buy Buffy S2 or The Dead Zone Seasons 1 and 2.
