I believe it probably has something to do with aligning it with Passover, which moves around b/c the Jewish calendar is lunar. Of course, Easter doesn't exactly align with Passover, so I'm not entirely sure. The formula to calculate the date of Easter is reall complex. O_o I don't know it off the top of my head.
Oh, duh. Actually, I think it's becasue we want Good Friday + Easter always to be Friday and Sunday, and then Ash Wednesday and Shrove Tuesday follow backwards, 40 days earlier. But yeah. Thanks. :)
