'lantis for the very first time: 1x18
Feb. 24th, 2005 02:34 pm[spoilers through "The Gift"]
I'm a h0 and stole my cut-text from
nostalgia_lj.
While I wait for the ep to open... I'm assuming there's no onscreen consummation of the McWeir subtext because fandom has not, as near as the cut-tags on my flist can tell, gone boom. That's sgwun fandom, and we all know that's 'cos of whatever the frell happened in "Threads." Which I could be watching right now, instead of this, but I have class in an hour and not time.
Teaser: People are asleep? People on 'lantis sleep! And there's a Wraith on base about to kill Teyla. And somehow, I doubt this is real. Sure 'nuff. Nightmare? Hallucination? And Teyla goes right to Sheppard and he's teh_dead. Again, I somehow ... 'nother dream. Hmmm. Cut to credits.
Not a bad teaser. Still don't give a frell about either one of them, but as near as I can tell, Sheyla is their canon OTP. I certainly hope so. *clings to delusionality* Pretty, credits!
Act two: Sparring! Boobies! SPARRING. Ohh, the UST burnses!
McKay: Well, besides crying ourselves to sleep.... well, not me. I haven't slept in days.
Weir: And what do you have to show for your sleepless nights, Rodney?
Aww, Zelenka and McKay are adorable. Although Weir is... poor Weir. She needs to have sex with the male co-star of her choice soon.
Awww! That "thanks to Rodney's discovery" and he raises his hand and Shep gives him a Look like "my h0, not yours!" :p
Kavanaugh! ♥
Man, I am ♥ ing this episode.
Heitmeyer. A psychologist. Huh. Yeah, they need about 20 of those on 'Lantis. Yep, she's been pretty busy since she got there. Yep.
I like Heitmeyer. She's pretty. I want to write femslash.
Man, I love the Teyla/Sheppard snark. Well, "love" might be a strong word. But there's chemistry, and it's burning, and I do NOT like Sheppard's condescending attitude and truthfully, there is no one who really gets Teyla, is there?
But hey, canon sleeping quarters. With curtains! O_o
Okay, this is another dream, right? Because, my heart just broke with the "We're sort of... seeing each other." NonononononoNO. Wakeupwakeupwakeup.... *sobs*
I like her but WHY? Or is it supposed to be that he's seeing her professionally? Because that? Would make more sense. And not be so horrible to the OTP.
Awww. Beckett/Teyla. "I've seen you fight, m'dear."
And I like Teyla's friend... Charon? Eh? This flabatnum is weird.
They really aren't acting the totally sleep-deprived as well as they could.
Wow. Okay. That was harsh.
McKay: I got a little...
Ford: You got a little what?
Shep: *snarky look*
Ford: What, it's okay when you guys make fun of me?
"The magic ancient device hasn't lied yet."
Ohhh, they are adorable. I'm going to fanwank Heitmeyer away and just focus on the
"Rodney"
"'Lizbeth."
"I wonder...."
"Just so you know, you didn't actually finish that sentence out loud."
GAH. I love them so much. Although he so should've kissed her so goodbye.
Hahahahahaha! They bet on whether the Wraith evolved after the Ancients arrived or not! Love Zelenka + McKay!
Oh, man. Just snarky cuteness OMG love love love.
And weird, Carson/Elizabeth.
Uh oh. Have they come up with some good flabatnum? Eh, not really, but at least... hmm. I think I might actually need to rewatch.
"The Ancients created the Wraith by accident or negligence"... or on purpose?
*sigh* I want Elizabeth and Rodney to have sex right NOW.
Teyla has a saaaafeword. *snerk*
Oh, wow, that was... this is good. Hot. And I love Weir even though she can be stupid at times. And yay Teyla! Eesh! What did they do? Wow, that's a bit scary. And eesh, there goes the alpha-site.
Mind-reading works both ways, does it?
Awww! Ford/Teyla OMG *snuggles* Know what? I think Ford might be the one who understands Teyla best. Because he respects her as a warrior so isn't letting any bullshit get in the way. Because he's good at listening. Not, obviously, that that was a good idea, but. Yay Ford/Teyla?
Uh oh. The Wraith want Earth. Creepy. Very creepy. Oh, damn, I closed the window before I went back and rewatched the icky bad wrongship scene to see if I could easily fanwank it.
On the whole... I'm really proud of the SG writers for setting up big arcs on both their shows. I'm just not sure how they'll ever be able to top it. Still, good things are happening. I'm almost slightly vaguely interested in the mytharc on 'Lantis. And Teyla, also almost vaguely interesting. Things are perking up.
If only I can convince myself that she's just his shrink but he doesn't want to tell Teyla that. That's totally retconnable, isn't it? The text can be read like that. It can.

Date: 2005-02-25 06:04 pm (UTC)The arcness is good. I like the arcness, I hope they keep it up.
Kept thinking the whole thing was going to be a dream...I guess assuming that everyone is really sleep deprived does help explain that.
Teyla is still boring. I suppose they're trying to make her more interesting now, but really...just boring. (Hrm...Teyla is boring. The Wraith are boring. Wonder if it's genetic?)
Having the Wraith head for Earth...trying to raise the stakes, but it's a really easy threat to get rid of...1) Take out crystal that lets the Stargate dial Earth. 2) Hide crystal. Or smash crystal. Then threat go 'way. *nods*

Yeah... I think that's supposed to be a large part of it... oddly I think Joe Flannigan did it best... or maybe Shep's just always a jerk so it was easier to ... okay, shutting up now. :p

Pretty much. It again makes me think, "How can they *possibly* make a second season?" Although, if they do smash the crystal, and I kind of get the feeling they're heading in that direction, given "Home" and "Letters from Pegasus," then next season might be about making 'Lantis a colony and not a military outpost. You know?
♥ and flowers... you wanna call me tonight or somethin'?
See you TOMORROW OMG.
