joy for Lent: seven
Feb. 16th, 2005 10:51 pmUgh. I went to the thingie at church, the one we're calling Open Waters.
Instead of pizza, we had leftover barbecue from Sunday. Ew. And also, not Lent-friendly. Does no one give up meat for Lent anymore?
Also, I managed to leave before the discussion got too discussiony, but I did manage to hear a lovely little take on "love" and how only God's love is pure and our love is all tainted and selfish and erotic love is BAD and DON'T CONFUSE LOVE WITH LUST and "erotic love is beautiful in a marriage between a husband and wife but otherwise is UGLY AND BAD." It was just a reading from a book, so I don't really know what anyone in the group thinks (missed discussion, for one thing), but argh, it annoys me so much. I would love to sit down and have a discussion about sexuality but for serious, I would like to have a rational discussion about it and I'm so entirely stuck in my head that I... oh, I will talk about this at some other time. Glee, then bed.
1. It was a beautiful day today! I got to wear sandals and it was just lovely.
2. Art teacher was okay with Artemisia idea.
3. Poked
cheese_munkey for awhile.
4. Breakfast! Lunch! Dinner! Snack!
5. Shower! Cleanness!
6. (BONUS!) People have said nice things to me on LJ. This flatters me and gives me self-confidence. (Even though the devotional booklet said all my self-worth should come from GOD.)
7. (BONUS!) I will be meeting
sk8eeyore in March!
Three things I did well:
1. Got up for breakfast and research.
2. Did not have a panic attack!
3. Went to the fellowship thing and did NOT leave before I had to even though VERY tempted. (Yes, dear, I can hear you complaining about how the time change (which, all right, was mostly for my benefit) makes this So Much Less Special for you. I'm sorry. I am.)
Two things I am looking forward to doing better tomorrow
1. I will do actual schoolwork! Hurrah!
2. I will write interesting meta-posts and not just think about writing them!
Bonus: Dear Stargate fandom,
I know it's a gorgeous picture. I know Sam is very pretty. However. She is brainwashed in that picture. She would not be smiling gorgeously if she were not brainwashed. Said cap is only appropriate in icons about brainwashing, God, Goa'uld, and Little Red's childhood cult. It is not really an appropriate expression of Samlove. [/pet peeve!]
