And on top of all that, not doing my frelling drama paper. Just need an intro and conclusion, really.
But just finished rereading The Search For Maggie Ward by Andrew Greeley. Lurve on Maggie. Amazingly. There are like, two female characters in the Greeley-verse who are remotely tolerable, Maggie and Mary-Kate, and them only divorced from the context of their horrible, soppy love affairs. (Well, no. I like Catherine Curran, and Annie Riley, and I suppose Nuala Anne, but it's just... they're so wonderful when they're all grown up. Backstory? Not so much. Anyhow. And the Megans. Who couldn't love the Megans?)
But dammit if the horrible, soppy love affair doesn't make me squee every time. And I like Mary-Kate's husband, dammit. Joe is teh_cuteness. And from Boston. Lurve on Joe. Much lurve.
I don't know why I am so compelled. It's not the most excellent writing in the world, and it reeks of a... no, not anti-feminist, just sort of... I don't know. But I am not here to critique. I am here to squee.
And there was a full page of young!Blackie goodness. Adorable beyond all measure. "Ned is still alive. And his son, Father Blackie to all, is the rector of Holy Name Cathedral. He still throws paper airplanes at me." OMGTHECUTE. For the record, all the priests in the Greeleyverse are unbearably cute, and since they are quite clearly allMary Sues self-inserts, my love for Andrew Greeley is pure.
Blackie is without a doubt my absolute favorite character ever of all time. Yes, even more than McKay, even more than Wesley, even more than Willow or Sam or any of the other characters I may have claimed to have loved. My love for Blackie predates all those and will transcend all those.
Oh yeah. There will be no sleep tonight. But seriously. Blackie. Love on Blackie.
Ohhh, teh_squee! There was just a feature on NPR about the world's oldest man who just recently passed away and he was a RED SOX FAN and got to see them win the World Series.... AGAIN. Isn't that the most amazingly awesome thing ever? *squee*
Okay, my head is starting to hurt, but I know full well that I only have to get through two more classes and then I can go on Thanksgiving break so... yes. *squee*
Time is now 7:08. I'm going to give up, get caffeine and food, and pretend that I did not stay up all night totally failing to write my paper comparing characters in The Misanthrope and A Midsummer Night's Dream. And if anyone tells me she loves one/both of those plays, she's getting the smackdown. I love them too, kay? I just don't enjoy writing ten page papers about them. Especially the intro and conclusion parts.
I've been listening to far too much news lately. It's ridiculous. I actually vaguely know what's going on in the world. (So I can pretend to be Worldly and Articulate when I eat dinner with my Way Too Cool For School or in fact Life extended family who will doubtless have strong opinions on everything.) I'm loosing my edge, yo.
Also, the Firefly movie has been delayed till September. Should really watch the show at some point before then. Also, another reason to keep going till September. Huh.

Date: 2004-11-23 09:38 pm (UTC)Ari: You definitely should watch Firefly. I think you'll love it. And there are only 11 episodes, so it's not even a huge time committment.
P.S. The oldest man DIED? My dad sent me an article on him shortly after the Sox won the Series. Sad that he died; glad he lived to see this Series.

Date: 2004-11-23 09:51 pm (UTC)... It said so on NPR this morning. Of course, I won't vouch for my awareness at 5 this morning when Morning Edition was on, but I don't think I would have made something like that up so...yeah. It is sad.
But he lived a long, full life. And got to see the Sox win. :)

Date: 2004-11-23 11:54 pm (UTC)Libraries that stock videos are a thing of beauty. I heart my Minuteman Library Network (most of the Greater Boston Area).
And i should have said 14 episodes. 11 aired, so i got used to saying 11, but the DVDs include the 3 unaired.

Date: 2004-11-24 02:45 am (UTC)Besides, there are just too many good Buffyverse guest stars of DOOOM! It's bound to hurt more after having actually seen them being the good guys.
Anyhow, question: how are the DVD's done, production order or airing order?
