sage_theory, the East Coast won't explode tonight. Miserable Sox loss makes me an unhappy Ari. Must watch 'Scape all night to get myself back in the mood for PK Wars tomorrow night. In that spirit...
Expectations, Hopes, and Fears for PK Wars:
[spoilers through "Bad Timing" with ever so small, and I mean tiny grey canon spoilers for the miniseries]
First off: this will be spectacular, one way or another. The writers are bloody brilliant. They will not write a mediocre miniseries. They will go for the big, huge, gigantic epic event, one way or another. It might fail brilliantly. It will probably succeed brilliantly. But this will be the arc. It will be an epic miniseries event. It couldn't be anything else.
Okay, so they've got a problem. The miniseries needs to wrap something up. Sure, they're going to leave us some loose ends (Movie? S5? Another miniseries?), but something is going to happen with the main arc. But they've accidentally pastede on UNYAY! a cliffhanger that is totally unrelated to the main arc. They've got to do something with that. And they've only got four hours to unkill John and Aeryn. I'm hoping they do that relatively quickly and then move right alone to, well, the PK wars.
I'm guessing that the wars will start without them. After all, things are not good with Braca and Grayza and the Scarrans. A war could easily start while John is off being disintegrated. I'm guessing that our team somehow get themselves involved after the Braca-arc has already started. Probably because they're going to have to. And right now, I'm not sure even a threat to Earth could do that for John, and they pulled that card, as well as the threat to Aeryn card, last season.
Oh, and Aeryn is pregnant. I keep wanting to paste that off yay. Oops. Gotta do something there.
The big problem, as I see it, is not the wars. They'll do, it'll be action-intensive, and 'Scape does that well. There will be moral dilemmas. Our heroes will make tough decisions. They'll make sacrifices. Someone will probably die. please don't let Braca die please please please please. I think we can expect to laugh at clever lines, to scream at clever commercial breaks, to weep, to squee at 'shippiness, to wonder what the frell they were smoking.
No, see, as far as I'm concerned, the issue is how they're going to end it.
'Cos I'm pretty sure it won't be pretty. Ben Browder said in an interview that it ends with "To Be Continued," and DK said "hide the knives." No, darlings, this will not end with John and Aeryn and Little BabyZhaan Talyn Jack Zhaalax??? all happy on a planet somewhere. No. It won't.
On the other hand, they will want to wrap up as many arcs as they can.
So, here's hoping they don't paste on unyay! another villain or death or problem or whatever at the end of the miniseries that isn't integral. Yes.
Hoping for:
Lots of Chi/D'Argo.
Lots of Braca.
Lots of Scorpius/Braca.
Very little Scorpius/Sikozu.
John/Aeryn that won't make me accidentally hate the 'ship.

If the Sox loose Sunday or Monday and Braca dies, I'm going to cry.
