"The Way We Weren't"

[spoilers for TWWW, nothing else]

In lieu of an actual review, let me just take this opportunity to express my intense, unyielding admiration for the following people:
-the writer (Naran Shanker)
-the director (Tony Tilse)
-the puppeteers
-Lani Tupu
-Claudia Black
-Claudia Black
-Claudia Black.

Best. Episode. Ever. Except for Die Me. Anthony Simcoe (D'Argo) says of this episode, "one of the most incredible hours of television I have ever seen. And I mean ever." (Quote from here). Oh hell yes.

Claudia Black is just a hell of an actor.

They're all just incredibly good.

I love how they stage the first Aeryn/Velorek so it seems like it's non-con and then... it's not.

I love Zhaan in this episode. I reallllly love Zhaan in this episode.

I like Chiana and John being more understanding because they weren't actually there so they don't really know what it was like....

One thing that felt off was John... or possibly BB... although BB is also an incredible actor. It just felt like Aeryn\Claudia was going to this really incredibly deep place emotionally, very complex, very conflicted and lonely and yet ultimately hopeful, and.... John was just sort of "So, ya wanna talk about it? Ya wanna talk about it? Are you in love with me?" And yes, J/A is my OTP forever, but it just seems... well, it seems like Aeryn is having a more appropriate response here than John. Although I'm not saying it's ooc for John to be all "it's all about ussss and our one true love," it's just... I don't like it very much.

I dunno, BB\John felt sort of... lighter. Like the moods didn't' balance right. And it didn't feel right.

So I just ignored the frontstory except the Aeryn/Zhaan and the Aeryn/Pilot (which could quite seriously become my new OTP. I wish they hadn't sort of abandoned their joined-in-DNA arc. It's pastede on yay! but I like it. Continuity.

Oh my goodness. So much continuity.

And oh my goodness. So much good acting.

And so much sadness. POOR PILOT. I love Pilot. I love that they made him an actual character, dammit! And he's a frelling puppet. But he's real. And he was in unending pain for three years.

Good heavens.

I love this episode so much.

Now, I really should sleep.

All I got out of this was Aeryn/Pilot. Now I'm salivating. And fantasizing.
