Apr. 5th, 2004 09:53 pm1. I saw Fellowship of the Ring. Well, most of it. Up to the river part. My thoughts? Well, I'm a book geek, no apologies. And maybe I shouldn't have read the book just a few months before, and maybe I'm being a bit harsh. However! I didn't enjoy it. The Frodo/Sam and the Merry/Pippin were very, very cute, the hobbit-piles were very, very cute, I now understand the VSD slightly better, but on the whole? Not really worth it. Not to mention they ruined Lothlorien and the entire Gimli-elf arc (and as an L/G shipper, I am deeply, deeply upset by how much of their interaction they took out). And since I am a geek, and a fan, and since I love Tolkien with an unholy passion... the timeline! They destroyed the beautiful, beautiful consistent timeline. ARGH. It was very slashy. It was very pretty, the music was good, it was epic and sweeping and hello, budget, but I didn't like it. Blame the geekiness.
2. I have now seen the first five seasons of Buffy, "Welcome to the Hellmouth" through "The Gift." Favorite character is Willow, but no other real favorites or thoughts, really.
3. I miss Farscape.
4. I got a review of "Managing My Madness" that suggested Daniel might be slightly ooc. Which, well, yeah. It made me want to attempt to explain myself and why I love scary!stalker!Daniel (and why I think it's a potential within Daniel's character.)
5. Last Friday's fannish 5:
1. What duo (crime-fighting or other) is the best at team fighting? *cheats* Beka & Trance & Harper (Andromeda)
2. What duo understands each other the best? Daniel/Sam (Stargate SG-1)
3. What duo has the best banter? Jack/Daniel (Stargate SG-1)
4. What duo has the healthiest relationship? Buffy & Giles (Buffy the Vampire Slayer)
5. What duo has the most dysfunctional relationship?John/Aeryn (Farscape)
6. I need an icon that says "I slash kiddie lit." Because I do. Remorselessly.
And in non-fandom news... got an A on my Wind in the Willows in-class essay. Somehow, I managed to wake up. I took a nap during every available naptime today, but am finally awake. I need to revise a short story for Writing, but I hate the story so much that even looking at it seems like too much at the moment. I kind of feel like smashing my computer screen. Not sure why. I'm just in mood. Oh. Yeah. Summer job. Still needs to be gotten. Frelllllllllll. Lots of l's in a row looks like a barcode. I am listening to this song on repeat. It's incredibly depressing.

Date: 2004-04-06 09:57 am (UTC)Someone once said that if you don't enjoy the LotR movies, you're incapable of enjoying a movie adaptation of LotR. And I think that's pretty accurate. Are they pretty? Yeah. But I simply *cannot* enjoy them, because I am constantly shouting at the screen (and they cut all my favorite scenes, too. ARGH!)
