items, and a long explanation of S/B
Mar. 20th, 2004 04:26 pmFirst, note to self: Get more sleep, or else you will turn into an insane little whiny person and start sobbing for no reason except you're really tired and deluded into thinking your life sucks much more than it in fact does. Therefore: get more sleep.
Second, my Winamp stopped working today, so I downloaded the newest release of Winamp and not only does it work, I can actually see the entire skin, not just the main part! This makes me such a happy fangirl! I can now see my skins! And they're so pretty, too. *cuddles skins, which she is changing about once a song*
Third, I desperately need to accomplish some work this weekend/this week. I should really prioritize, figure out what's due first, and frelling do it, using nice things like a re-read of Dr. Jackson's Diaries as a reward.
Fourth, I have just now decided to cut all non-show-related cursewords out of my vocabulary. I doubt this will make me any less profane, but it will certainly make me more of a geek.
Fifth, I decided last night just why I love Scorpius/Braca so much.
if_, this is in large part for you. Hope it's helpful:
Background: Peacekeepers are members of the Sebacian species. PKs at one point in the distant past were actually, well, peacekeepers, but now they are a power-hungry military force. They're obsessive about racial/species purity, believe in lots of frelling but not in love, and as near as I can tell, have nothing akin to marriage.
Scarrans are the other important villainous race in the universe. They make PKs look like nice fluffy bunnies. Really nasty, even more obsessive about racial purity, to the point where one of their main goals is genocide of all non-Scarrans. Really nice guys.
Characters: Scorpius is the main villain for most of the series. He's introduced about halfway through S1. Scorpius is half-Sebacian, half-Scarran, the product of a forced breeding between a Sebacian female and a Scarran male. He was dragged up by the Scarrans, whom he hates, and his main goal in life is to destroy them. He's obsessed with mastering knowledge of the network of wormholes that runs through the time-space continuum.
John Crichton is the hero of Farscape. In S1, a well-meaning alien inserted wormhole knowledge into John's brain. John is not conciously aware of the knowledge, and he must unearth the knowledge if he wants to use it.
Braca is a consummate peacekeeper. He serves the person in power, whoever that might be, and is an obedient, spineless bitch (there's really no other word for it). He gets picked up by Scorpius at the end of S1, and serves him faithfully until the beginning of S4, when Scorpius is vanquished by Grayza. While serving Grayza, Braca continues to serve as Scorpius's spy until the end of the season when he grows a backbone, claims command on the grounds that Grayza is incompetent, and invites Scorpius back on board the command carrier.
Scorpius/John (without the Harvey arc, which isn't really necessary for understanding the S/B love): Remember John and his wormhole knowledge? And Scorpius and his wormhole obsession? Yeah. One of Scorpy's main goals in life is to hunt John down. Obsession? Frelled-up desire? Heck yeah.
Scorpius/Braca: or, Ari's OTP of the week: As Scorpy's subordinate, Braca (probably) expects and is expected to provide sexual services for Scorpius. Based on the Grayza/Braca relationship (which is canonically sexual, in an extremely frelled way), it's not out of the ordinary for COs to sleep with their subordinates. (Unlike, say, the Stargate universe, where such things are frowned upon. ::shifty eyes::) That's not really all that interesting. What's interesting is that Braca cares about Scorpius. His loyalty to Scorpy? Even when it's not in his best interests? Squee yeah.
So this is why I over-identify with Braca. He's the good one, the perfect PK, the ideal 2iC, he's obedient and well-behaved. And Scorpius is obsessed with John. When Scorpius comes back on board, he's got a broad with him, Sikozu. And Braca just watches them flirt and... Braca! *whimpers* And yeah, Scorpius need Braca, relies on him, but Braca'll never be most important to him. You know?
Braca's life is my adolescence. *sniffles*
Sixth, I really, really need to get started on work, my room needs to be cleaned somewhat desperately, andI am coordinating my Winamp skins to each song. This is truly pathetic.
! When I use the newest version of Winamp, it automatically detects my music! Squee!

Date: 2004-03-20 01:57 pm (UTC)Canon, really? Could you give me an example? You got me curious. And this Braca character seems pretty interesting indeed!
The show only aired on the cable here, so I couldn't watch it, but I've heard about it so much, RL and CL, that I've always been tempted to get the DVDs... I guess I'll succumb to the temptation one day *g*

Date: 2004-03-20 02:03 pm (UTC)Grayza is down on the floor, next to Braca. She unzips his uniform and pulls it away from his chest. She wipes some of the secretion off her chest and rubs it under Braca's nose. He gasps weekly and turns his head. The spiky thing is gone from his forehead. Grayza picks his head up in her arm. Braca opens his eyes and sees her arm. He rears back his head.
Braca: "Ma'am."
Grayza: "Captain, that was the best ever. You continue to amaze me."
Braca: "Uh, I'm glad I could be of service."
Grayza looks down at him.
Braca: "I mean, I'm pleased I could satisfy...
Grayza looks away and smiles.
Braca: "Will that be all?"
Grayza breathes: "Yes... For now."
Braca groans and clamors to his feet and hurries off, holding his uniform closed with his hand.
Grayza watches him go with a smile on her face. Once he is gone, she sighs.
I love Braca. Braca is my woobie.
And you should get into Farscape. Everyone should. :D

Date: 2004-03-20 02:09 pm (UTC)Anyway, really loved the scene- I mean, you're right, canonically sexual in a frelling way *g* Hey, maybe I should start to use 'what the frell' or stuff like that? Although, I shouldn't now, not before I get into Farscape first *g*
Thanks for the transcript!
