Does anyone out there understand Antony and Cleopatra and want to explain it to me sometime tonight? I'm so fucking screwed. (I mean that seriously. sage_theory? Anyone?)

A-/B+ on Sor Juana presentation. Still hate Sartre. Computer better (Yay!) but schoolwork still unfinished. Am going to earn this spring break so much.

Just want to curl up in warm bed and sleep for about three centuries.

Threw out Valentine's flowers today.

Head hurts from caffeine overdose.

Hate Antony and Cleopatra.

Perhaps will pull all-nighter. If I think of it in those terms, I have plenty of time to work on this. Unfortunately, I have work to do every fucking night this week. ARGH!

That's nice.

What happens? Which minor characters are important? Why did I wait till the last minute yet again? Why did we get stuck with the confusing play where no one's motives are clear and the main 'ship might not even be the canon OTP and has elaborate rapid scene-shifting and no nice soliloquies to tell us why anyone does anything?

Antony and Cleopatra is a headache. A terrible headache. However, the thing that will really help you understand it is if you look at it from a Caesar/Antony OTP point of view.

If you see Antony as having such an obsessive love for Caesar that he has to *become* Caesar in order to right his world.

You also have to look at Cleopatra as the Laira of the entire relationship. Really.

There was a terrible Elizabeth Taylor movie in which this all went down. But the Shakespeare version is a very confusing. The solilquys can choke a wild horse.

Best thing to do is to read the play and *skim* the soliliquys and then go back and analyze each one by one.

Use highlighters. Charts if necessary. Pull out Microsoft Power point if it comes to that.

I understand! Took me six hours of careful reading and writing down everything, but dude, I think I understand the play.

Sleep? Who needs sleep?

The Antony/Caesar really, really helped. And according to the introduction, it's kind of canon. As is Lepidus/Antony and Lepidus/Caesar. It's all terribly, terribly convoluted. And slashy.

I think I'd prefer King Lear. At least the plot of that is comprehensible.
