Is there such a thing as a Gratuitous Community Post? Because dude?
we_love_ari. For an lj user named
iamari. That's it, guys. Y'all suck. Why don't I have a fanclub? ::mock pouts::
Secondly, drabble, for
zeldaophelia's challenge. I claimed Jack/anyone, situation: star gazing, words: shingle, fall, and Orion.
I wrote two drabbles that sort of coexist in the same general universe. Exactly 100 words each:
1. Fear of Falling
Paring: Jack/Hammond
Rating: G
The girls' romping threatened Jack's roof. He smiled at Kayla who, catching his eye, slowed down and allowed Jack to catch her in a bear hug and tilt her head so she could see Orion.
"It's so high," she whispered. "How long would it take to fly there? Would you be scared? I'd be scared I'd fall off." Jack shared a glance with George, who announced bedtime.
When the girls had been herded into bed, George rejoined Jack, who was tossing a shingle from one hand to the other. "Are you afraid of falling?"
"No, sir."
"Good, neither am I."
2. Watchful Wake
Pairing: Jack/Hammond
Rating: PG
General Hammond and Colonel O'Neill are watching Tessa and Kayla pry a shingle loose from Jack's roof. Hammond and the girls have been coming here to watch stars since last fall. They observed Orion infiltrate the southern horizon, waited for Santa together.
In the protective quiet of gloaming, Jack is free to imagine that he's been injured and needs a commanding officer's strength to supplement his own. He carefully leans his head against George's fatty shoulder. George glances at his granddaughters. They are still absorbed by the shingle, so George presses his lips to Jack's head, and Jack feels safe.
Finally, I have the best girlfriend in the whole world and she's all mine. Happy Valentine's Day, everyone.

Re:
Date: 2004-02-14 08:01 pm (UTC)Well, yes, but...sometimes one ships, but doesn't really want a more vivid mental picture...
:p
Re:
Date: 2004-02-14 08:11 pm (UTC)Please do note the ratings on those fics. The second one is PG for a reason, and no, I didn't want that particular mental image, either! However, theirloveistootruetobeignored.
:p
Re:
Date: 2004-02-16 03:55 pm (UTC)Yes, yes, theirloveiscanon, and one must admit it.
This does not absolve you of blame for that mental immage.
:p
Re:
Date: 2004-02-16 05:24 pm (UTC)Okay, then YOU write some Jack/Hammond that doesn't come with any unsettling mental images!
:p
Re:
Date: 2004-02-16 05:26 pm (UTC)No, no, dear. If I write Jack/Hammond (should it be Jack/George? They're acting kinda intimate for a last name basis...yeah) it will be solely for the unsettling mental immages.
:p
Re:
Date: 2004-02-16 06:36 pm (UTC)But... yeah. Okay. Fine. :p
Write some? Pleeeeeeeeeeeease?
