Her Dark Materials

I read His Dark Materials by Philip Pullman all the way through for the first time (I'd gotten partway through The Amber Spyglass last time, but stopped when something distressing happened. This time apparently I could cope better with that distressing thing, so I got to all the other distressing things!)

I suppose I shall have to go seek out all that people-with-daemons fic, and the Canon OTP fic that I didn't understand the existence of until I finished the series, and all the fic about the wonderful adventures of Mary Malone.

Right? Because there's heaps of fic about Mary, right? Because she's totally my favorite character.

I know it should be Mrs. Coulter, but I just can't right now. Possibly never.

Have just opened big bunch o' tags for reading at home. And yes, my dear, that includes yours. (& if you you have written any, I can't find it. :( )

Now to see if I will actually read any of it.

I still haven't read The Amber Spyglass. Mary is awesome, though. I WANT to read it, I just...don't. BECAUSE I KNOW NOTHING GOOD IS COMING FOR THESE PEOPLE.

FYI--my story is a lot more Devil Wears Prada and a lot less His Dark Materials. Also, there are two more installments, in theory, that are half-finished on the hard drive.

But I'd love to know what you think about the book, both because Mary is awesome, and also because in re-reading lunabee34's posts and my own, I'm still fascinated by the book and the world.

Also, it occurs to me that lunabee34 and I need to read some more books at some point.
