Whoa baby!

Oh, yeah.

Thank you very, very much. This rocks. I do really like the ending, actually, because I see a lot of this as fundamentally true to the characters: McKay and his obliviousness; Ford up for whatever, it's all good. Sometimes it just comes down to the mechanics of sex, the physics of coming, without any kind of (valorized) romantic or loving context.

Nah. It was way too soon in their relationship for kissing. Heck, they weren't even on a first name basis yet.

This pretty much says it all, sums up the point of the entire fic.

Ford tried desperately to think of something he could say, something to prolong the moment. Which was weird, because it wasn't actually a good moment, since McKay was about ready to kill him. But it felt oddly intimate, like watching the point man's six and knowing that if you fucked up, he was dead, but that he was relying on you.

This is my favorite part of the fic because it cuts to Ford's emotions, and he's our POV character. Prolonging a bad moment? In a perverse way, it makes total sense, because this, not romance/love/blah, is the emotion between them: anger, reliance, desire dissociated from a relationship different from their existing one (their relationship as colleagues). It comes down to, why not fuck? And that's as good reason as any to do it.

Still, the fic ends on a hopeful note: McKay doesn't send Ford away. He's willing to share a bed. I love that it ends in an open-ended way.

But mostly I love all the troubling stuff that comes out during their sexual encounter: desire, reliance, anger, relief, pleasure.

Again, thank you.
