Gee. That was incredibly sad.

I loved the cerebralness of this, though (if that's anything like a word). I could feel Ford's mind ticking over, at once so desperately vulnerable and distant. Your simple, sparce descriptions were wonderful, almost voyeuristic.

This Ford is far too good at making do with not getting what he wants, and I didn't like how McKay exploited that, though it seemd part of McKay's reaction was punishment for Ford's unwillingness to reaveal who he actually was. I'd like to think that McKay will reciprocate later, but your story doesn't seem to be pointing that way...

Terribly sad. But I do love your writing. :-)
