Well, Firefly is ridiculously short. What didn't help me was seeing Serenity, then Firefly, then had to watch Serenity again to get the full appreciation of it. (I originally thought it wasn't great. It was the second time.)
And it took me a LONG time to watch all 10 seasons of SG-1. I've still only seen like 3 seasons of Atlantis. There are those that say SG:A is awful, but I have an appreciation for it.
You still retain your cool points. After all, you're planning on catching up at some point.
